The Chosen is an interesting interpretation of the story of  Christ in the gospels. As Bishop Robert Barron has mentioned, it is an approach akin to how Catholics undertake Lectio Divina. 

It is a show that focuses on the followers of Christ, his CHOSEN disciples. In order to do this, it embellishes the stories of the lives of the disciples, meaning this approach provides a view of Christ that is more grounded and intimate. 

The creator of the show, Dallas Jenkins, has stated that the show should never replace your own Bible studies.

With all this in mind, we believe it to be a great conversational piece, and a way to enter into a conversation of the Gospels and our own understanding of them.
